Time for a change

The birds that give the UK's estuaries their particular winter character are beginning to move away towards their breeding grounds. Soon, sights like this one will be over until next autumn when the flocks return again. Already the Black-tailed Godwits are moulting into their beautiful summer plumage, instead of the plain greys and browns seen here. At last this cold winter is over!
