Southwold Harbour, River Blyth

Date: June 2006

Camera: Ebony RSW45
Lens Schneider 110mm Super Symmar
Exposure: not recorded
Film: Velvia 50

The area around Southwold Harbour provides a wide range of opportunities for photography. The boat yards, moorings and fishermen's huts, not to mention the glistening mud and water, are all highly photogenic.

This picture, taken from the Walberswick side of the river, captures the atmosphere of the location well and demonstrates the advantage of the relatively simple optical formula used in large format lenses - shooting into the sun can often result in lens flare, but not in this case.

A ND graduated filter was used to balance the exposure between the sky and the rest of the picture.
