This picture was taken almost by chance. I'd visited Market Weston Fen in north west Suffolk to take photographs for a landscape project, but seeing a lot of insect activity, I decided to have a spend a few minutes (hours- Author's wife) looking for macro subjects. After a short time I came across what was, for me, an unfamiliar damselfly resting beside a small pool. I took a number of pictures and checked the ID when I returned home. To my surprise it was a Scarce Emerald Damselfly, a species not previously recorded in the county.

Market Weston Fen is a Suffolk Wildlife Trust reserve.
